Style Focus: Oyinda Johnson

This week's feature is beautiful Oyinda, a msjacksays reader. She tells us about her style and shares a few tips with us. Continue reading to learn a thing or two about Oyinda.
Also, information on how to feature on Style Focus is at the end of this post.
Enjoy! :)

So...my style, well I don't really know how to describe it, but I try as much as possible to give my outfits a personality.

Betty Boop... Miss Jack loves!
I'm generally a chirpy, fun-loving person, but I also have a boyish side!

I adore both slightly edgy as well as chic.

For me, what makes my outfit could be my shoes (J'aime chaussures) or sometimes even the colour of my nail-polish. Yep, nail polish.

Her advice to us:

Be creative...match a velvety ruffled top with a silk jacket and rough it up with jeans or with uniquely shaped or coloured shoes.

Don't be afraid to use a bright colour that stands out, yet accentuates your outfit.

The trick is getting the balance right, be confident and let it radiate in what you wear...but make sure not to turn up looking outrageously obnoxious. When in doubt, go with what you know.

You're not always gonna get it right, but more often than not it's worth a try.

Most importantly, keep that smile on your face, beauty shines inside-out.

Love,
Oyinda!

Style Focus is my way of celebrating my readers' style every week. It's very easy to feature as long as you have style to share! All you have to do is...

1. Follow msjacksays
There is a link on the side bar and on the Nav bar at the top of the page.

2. Email at least 5 photos (could be more) to msjacksays@yahoo.com. Photos should be you in different outfits.

3. If I pick you, then you get featured on the next available Sunday!

In His Tee

Decided to use a plain male t-shirt as the basis of my outfit today. Was perfect since Friday is usually a casual day and I wanted to look the part.

It's been a long week and I can't wait to fall asleep.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead!

Aluta continua!

Today was my first day of school this semester. It turned out to be one of those days when I'm not sure if I'm awake or still asleep as I mechanically make it from class to class and everywhere in-between.

Decided that if I am to make it to class this year sans all the huffing and puffing required after a half-run, I will have to learn to pick ballet flats over heels more often than usual. That, and the fact that I now live further away and will have longer walking minutes.

Managed to take a few random photos of myself as I ran out the door into the rain and sometime before I collapsed into my bed when it was all over.

Aluta continua. (The struggle continues).

Tomorrow is another day. *sigh*

Have a good night.

Tackle or be tackled?

Guess who showed up yesterday?

Yes! :D

Mr & Mrs CRAPPY WEATHER!

Doing the dance of triumph.

I don't think I've ever been happier to see grey skies. And just when I thought, it couldn't get any better, it started raining! You can't tell me the angels don't read what Miss Jack has to say.

In other news....

Day one of Rugby (yesterday) went quite okay. I'm no stranger to throwing, catching and running (thanks to all the other sports I have played) so I really enjoyed it and it also taught me quite a few things about myself.

1. I do not enjoy being tackled. It involves falling over 100% of the time.

2. I do not enjoy tackling. It involves falling over just as much.

3. I do not enjoy falling over.

4. I do not have the required 'force' necessary to knock a skinny girl over.

And so on this note, I hereby announce my official withdrawal from Team Female Rugby. I'm sure it'll all hurt less and be even more fun when we're playing in our full gear in a couple of hours but I think I'll pass. Time to find something else to get involved in.

Orange Express

This was what I wore on Sunday. Went to church and then into town to search for some furniture for my new place.

Came across this very talented dude in town who was using straight pieces of wire to form names and things like flowers and dolphins. He used only a small pair of pliers and he did it so effortlessly. His table was crowded by amazed kids but as an honorary member of the kiddies club I just had to take a photo or two (or three) before they realised I was a bit too tall to be so enthralled like that.

This dude is quite under-paid!

A few of his samples

The magician at work!

Also came across some dudes inviting passers-by to join in the fun they had to offer. Not sure what to call the game but basically two players had to stand on two player mats (team spots and team stripes), then a game came up on this huge screen and they had to compete.

Knock down all the cups in the pyramid on the screen!

The players.

And that's how my sunday went. Or at least, some of it.
I've got study on my mind right about now.
Want to give myself a head start before Uni officially begins for me.
It isn't always that easy to concentrate in a 9am lecture so better for me.

 Have a lovely week!

Cobalt Manicure

I am always attracted to cobalt blue. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I love bright colours and that there are few colours that pull an outfit together and stand out at the same time, of which cobalt blue is one (in my opinion).

My favourite cobalt picks at the moment are;

BONNIE by Carvela which I wore here (isn't she lovely?),

this fab ring and the colour on my nails!

The weather in Cardiff has been insane! It's the beginning of October and we're still rocking a full blown summer. I'm not sure whether to be happy or sad, considering the fact that the homes are built for winter and so my apartment sometimes feels like a mini furnace. Anyone know where I can purchase an air-conditioner? I'm already suffering from serious heat rash. Yeah, i know.... hard to believe since I'm just coming from Nigeria. Well, like I said AC is the KEY! I'm not a big fan of cold weather but I'm secretly wishing this heat will calm down a bit.

Another thing that bugs me even more than the heat is the excess bum leakage I've been forced to witness since I got back into town. At first I thought okaaay...welcome back to the land of second-hand smoke and the barely clothed (amongst many other things I do not care for)...but now I'm just, to put it simply- upset.

Why should you subject passing strangers to the sight of one of your privates (it's called that for a reason)? You may say why don't I just look away but I tell you, I looked away until I was stuck behind numerous bums on escalators and stairs one time too many only yesterday. Unto each his own but please the world is your oyster not your private beach. Consider others as well as yourself in certain things you do or wear.

And then came the wind! *sigh of relief*

I hope you're enjoying the weather way better than I am.

The adventures of Ruby Woo

Ruby Woo by MAC

This lipstick is easily the hottest red lipstick (matte & gloss inclusive) I know! From the moment I saw it on a friend, I knew I had to purchase it. Everytime I see someone wearing it, I shriek because it looks so good (the novelty is a long way from wearing off)! I do not have the words to explain the fabulousity of that shade of red. So I'll show you. :)

Rihanna in Ruby Woo

I've worn it almost every day since I got it. Day or Night, it makes no difference to me!

Snake skin and brown leather.

Miss Jack hearts these GLEAM sandals from Carvela

and this Pied a Terre boxy tote (strictly in light brown!).

The photographs do no justice to this bag at all!

Gorgeous!
