Still out & about the 'diff!

Cardiff. Cardiff. Cardiff.

It's been a constant buzz since I got in. Love it!

As a result, I've also been constantly tired.

I'm secretary of the Cardiff Uni ACS this year so there's a lot going on with me.

Plus, I just decided to join the female RUGBY team!

Ha! Still not sure what I'm thinking.

Trials are tomorrow so we'll see how that goes.

Pray for me o!

CROESO I CAERDYDD

I apologize for my unexplained absence. Seems like I’ve been moving in fast-forward motion for the past week or so. First I had to prepare to leave Nigeria for Cardiff, then I arrived and it got crazy!

I’ve spent the past few days moving into my new apartment. I’m on the top-most floor and the view is AMAZING!

Besides lifting heavy boxes and unpacking them, I haven’t been up to much else.

Was very happy to spend time with Him after so long though :)! We had a pig out session breakfast at The Pancake House the morning after I moved into my new place. The pancakes were LOVELY!

We also took a walk in the city centre. The Italian market had some very colourful foods on display. I'm not one to experiment with food ever so often so we were just happy to feast our eyes. That and the fact that we were yet to digest those heavenly pancakes.

There's something about Cardiff that makes me love it so!

It's probably the fact that there seems to always be something new to brighten my day.

By the way, the heading of this post is Welsh for, 'Welcome to Cardiff'.

Purple, pink and orange

WARNING: NO PICTURES!

This morning I woke to a BBM contact's status that read, 'Jealousy, the act of counting someone else's blessings instead of yours.'

Gbam!

How 'on point' is that?

I don't think that line needs any extra explanation. It's very straight to the point in my opinion. But as usual, I must say my own too.

It's green, it's white... it's Nigerian.

Here's a preview of the Casual chic tanks as promised. I will be doing a full post on them and the Classy female tops in the Rhian Jack section of this blog with prices as soon as they are ready. Please excuse my poses, or shall I say lack of ability in that area. Enjoy. :)

SAY CHEESE!

Had a dental appointment this morning and due to some serious sensitivity in the offending tooth which no amount of anaesthetic could numb, the procedure dragged on and didn't end like it was supposed to. After hours of pain induced sleep, I woke up to more pain.

Just took painkillers and a sleeping pill I keep for when the insomniac in me turns up. Couldn't resist a post before I drift off into my magic land of... (unfortunately, I can't tell you what I dream of :p).

By the way, that is meant to be my dentition in the photo. Didn't believe it when I first saw it, but I had to ask. The dentist said I could keep it. Yay me!

Looks  too wrong but I kind of like it in a weird sort of way. Probably because it's mine anyways. I guess they ran out of play dough. That would explain why it looks like something dug up from an archeological site.

Considering some ginger tea & TV with my mum to accompany me to snoozeville.

Hope you all have a good night.

Almost there!

The tops are almost ready. I picked up the first batch today and I am still very excited! I can't wait to show them to you guys! I will as soon as possible. :)

With the tops almost ready and all my summer jobs over, it's been yet another boring day for me. I just can't function right without something to do. Once I'm 'jobless', I get really lazy. Good thing I'm scheduled for one day of work before I leave for Cardiff. It's at a law firm I worked at last year. Suddenly, one day of court-hoppping doesn't seem so bad. Looking forward to it! I will also go visit my lovely babies at the orphanage some time this week. I feel so bad about leaving them even though it can't be helped. I will definitely miss them a lot! *sob*

All laced up in cream.

The rain in Abuja has been something else these past few days and I mean, scary. Cold nights spent praying that the roof doesn't cave in under the pressure (too much TV, I know).

After many weeks of switching between my hair and weaves, I have finally decided to stick with my hair, at least for a bit (in my case, that could mean anything from a few days to a month). I think I'm addicted to cutting my hair as much as I'm addicted to buying shoes.

Hair + Scissors = Bright Idea!

It's gotten so bad, I even purchased my own hair clippers. One more thing I can do on my own whenever I feel like it. My friends think I'm a sad case but they can't but agree that my haircuts always turn out great. lol. I will post pictures of my hair soon as I can take some.

Vintage lace top
High waist leggings: Topshop
Earrings: Primark
Shoes: Jasper Conran

I must say I absolutely love these Jasper Conran sandals! The network of straps is fab! They are also super comfy and one of my first picks when I have a lot of walking to do.

Early to bed.

It's been a long day and I can not wait to hit the sheets. I just thought to share a few quotes I heard today...

"You can not overcome what you have not confronted."
In other words, if you do not face your fears or challenges, you will be unable to overcome and move past  them. It is that simple.

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
- Albert Einstein.

Basic principle of life; change your methods to get different results. If you feel like there's something in your life that isn't going right no matter how hard you try then maybe it's time to change your game plan?

Change can be HUGE and change can be seemingly minor and insignificant. The most important thing is that you shift from that position that has you grabbing for stagnation at every turn.

Think about it.

It's an early night for me... Goodnight!

Fashion Focus: Michelle Obama.

R.I.P to those who lost their lives in the decade old disaster.

I happened to watch a part of the Commemoration Service earlier today and unsurprisingly, I started tearing up just listening to the names of the deceased being called out. That and the many thoughts that ran through my mind. I watched with mixed emotions as kids read messages to their dead parents.

So many innocent lives snuffed out almost all at once and I ask...to what worthy end?

Just as I was about to find something else to watch, she walked in...in all her divine fabulousity! No doubt about it, Michelle Obama always turns up looking like a breath of fresh air! I immediately fell in love with her outfit; so simple yet so chic. She is one lady whose wardrobe some people can kill for.

hey hey! :)

Just checking in to wish you all a lovely weekend. I must say it feels so good to be back online blogging. I've missed it a lot!

Now that the Rhian Jack Casual Chic tank tops are almost ready, I have more time on my hands so Hello Blogville! :D

I didn't take a break and re-vamp the blog for nothing though! My kind of posts won't change, I'll just make it all more interesting.

Purse: DKNY
Belt: Select

'Rock chic' tee: Newlook
Sunglasses: Gucci

Shoes: Primark

Cropped pants: Select

Cocktail ring: err...i forgot! :(

I'm totally loving it here in Nigeria, as usual. The fact that I can wallow in self-deceit by pretending I'm not about to head right back into autumn/winter is just bliss! On the other hand, I can't help but dream about another lovely white Christmas in Cardiff coming up soon. I'm very much excited even though I hate any weather that doesn't include blazing sunshine! LOL.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

the highlight of my summer!

This summer I decided I didn't want a 9-5 job as usual so I opted for a volunteer position at an orphanage here in Abuja. I must say, the hours I put in there have been the most stressful/tiring hours I have ever known but spending time with the kids beat all that hands down!

It was quite interesting, I turned up for work every other day in jeans & a t-shirt with my hair tied back but they always managed to mess up even such a simple look. I was forced to wash my hair more often than usual because these kids were on some jungle book hype; climbing everything including my head. No jokes! I won't forget receiving my first punch in the eye on my 1st day at work. The many pinches from angry kids and a nasty bite that left a visible mark and swelling on my thigh for over a week! I quickly learnt the kids to avoid and resorted to hanging out with the nicer ones. Lol.

It's a bit sad to note that not all the kids at the orphanage are actually orphans. Some of those adorable kids were dumped by their biological mothers almost immediately after they were born. How ironic; I hang out with these kids every other day, wishing I could take them all home meanwhile, the one human who should love them more than me actually discarded them like yesterdays playthings. Not nice. :(

Wedding Marathon! PH edition.

Hey!

I was in and out of Port-Harcourt a couple of times this summer. Home, they say, is where the heart is and I can testify to that. I love Abuja but I doubt it can ever feel like home a.k.a PH! It's a feeling that even Abuja as a mad city can't compare to.

One weekend, I flew down South to PH to attend 3 weddings....all on the same day! Each wedding was unique and interesting in it's own way and I had a wonderful time. If there are any pictures of me from those weddings, I am yet to see them. However, I did manage to take a picture of my outfit.

All year, I had the same conversation over and over again...
Me (to another): Those are lovely shoes!/That's a fab blazer!/That's a cute bag! Where did you get it/them?
And the reply? PRIMARK!

Now I have nothing against Primark except the quality of it's products but from what I've seen so far, it's safe to say there has been an improvement from when I first bought clothing from there. So after making one too many shocked faces at other people's Primark purchases, I decided I must get me some Primark goodies and here they are....Blazer: Primark, Skirt: Primark, Shoes: Primark.... And I'm loving them! Just scared to rock them more than a couple of times and of course, to wash them! They look so pretty. Lol.

Owambe!

Hey guys!

As you can imagine, the summer gist is plenty! I will dole it out in bits and pieces so it isn't long and boring.

Last month I attended my first proper Yoruba wedding reception in Abeokuta and all I could say was Wow! I had just spent a week in Ibadan before heading to the wedding so I turned up in my first ever Buba ati Iro which was made for me in Ibadan as a gift. I was so excited. Lol.

The wedding was akin to a carnival, a very colourful one at that! It also had a lot of 'powerful' Nigerians in attendance. I managed to take a few pictures before my phone battery died (thanks to me for playing 'angry birds' all the way from Ibadan to Abeokuta).

And here I am, in my party attire. Lol.

New Beginnings

Hey guys!
I know it's been months since my last post. I've been really busy this summer, working on Rhian Jack-related stuff especially. I hardly have any photos to show for everything else I've been up to but I'll offer what little I have. :)
I decided to skip the formalities and start posting! I've had quite a few readers on my neck. So here it is, the new and improved msjacksays... Enjoy! :)
