Style Focus: Rachael 'Diidi' Ime Albert

Yup! I know it has been a while but your favourite Sunday feature is back!
Feel free to contact me if you would like to feature (swalsonjack@yahoo.com).

Today I have a very interesting person with an enviable handbag collection. I find her very inspiring for reasons you'll have to find out for yourself when you visit her blog.

Meet Rachael 'Diidi' Ime Albert.
A student of Kings College London and blogger at www.diidi-speaks.tumblr.com.
Enjoy her photos and what she has to say about her style.
I know I did! :)

"Cliche, but I can't really describe/define my style. It's definitely feminine, but most of all it has to be comfortable. I'm not really one to do the 'trends' thing, I usually go for what favours my body shape more."

"I'm a very random person and I actually enjoy dressing up when the occasion arises. However my friends would probably say I don't understand the concept of dressing down. My outfits come to me in my mind before I even open my closet. I know most pieces I own. I would also generally get a piece fitted for my body. Tailor on standby is very necessary."

"I recently added a couple pairs of jeans to my closet, I would usually rather wear a dress or a skirt. My goal was to add more colour to my closet because I'm usually so partial to black. I think I succeeded."

"My style is very me-oriented. I shop for staple pieces and I'm more of an impulse buyer. So I generally have random pieces I end up having to create an outfit from. I'm especially loving playsuits and I shall enjoy them more in summer and Nigeria. Also I think a beautifully cut jumpsuit does wonders for the body."

"My bags are probably my staple. I love bags!"

I hope you're all having a lovely Sunday evening?

Team 'Bob!

The sun was out today (for the most part) and it put me in the mood for Spongebob!
I had quite a few things to get done today so I opted for comfortable shoes.
I didn't plan to take photos but a dear friend of mine thought I was photo-ready and so we stopped in the middle of the busy city centre to take photos.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend?
I spent the mine with family.
We didn't get up to much but I most certainly had a really nice time. :)

I did mention that the lovely weather meant more outfit posts!
Here, I'm wearing one of the pieces from my Spring/Summer 2012 collection.
By the way, I have not forgotten about the photos and video from the fashion show. I am still waiting on the photographer who covered Afrogene. I have no idea why it is taking so long!

The wise bits: 2.0

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle…..
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Azonto Explosion!

Chez & Tobi

On friday, we had the ACS (African Caribbean Society) elections and a new committee is now in place. It is with mixed feelings that I relinquish my position as secretary.
And then came the azonto after party!
What can I tell you... It was an amazing night and two things made it so for me; my way-too-cool ACS family & those wicked Azonto cocktails!
Here are some of the beautiful people that came on the night.
