Elements; The Ball.

Saturday was the Asian Society Ball, Elements. It was held at the National Museum and involved a drinks reception, a show and a lovely dinner. Unfortunately, it started much later than was advertised so I couldn't stay until the end as I had other engagements after that. I hear it was an awesome night altogether.

Here come the beautiful people...

Yasmin, Irene & Daima

Remia
Everyone looked so beautiful in their saris and other Asian attires. I was one of few who didn't turn up in a traditional Bollywood outfit. I wish I'd had time to find and purchase one. So cool!

Spongebob

Yeah yeah yeah, spongebob again. Yours truly is an honorary member of the spongebob club. Get used to seeing him every now and then.

"Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?"

Haha! I know most of you sang the response to that question.
Welcome to the club! ;)

Girls' Night Out

Friday Night with the girls was just what the doctor ordered. Cocktails, banter and mindless dancing; no better way to shake off the flu for good.

Once again my favourite repeat offender stole my heart in this outfit, tied together nicely with the bow she made herself.
I definitely know cool people.

Floral Burst

Dinner with a lovely friend was a welcome distraction. I have been stuck in bed with a serious case of the flu coupled with boredom so I was more than happy to get some air.

On an entirely different note, I'm in one of my moods again. Thinking of doing away with my weave and shaving all my hair off. Ok, maybe not all of it. I don't think I'd like that to become a habit. But yeah, short hair on my mind... But then again, that might be the flu and medication messing with my mind.

*confused*

A time to reflect

There is no better time to assess our lives and review the year than right now. Doing this is a way to ascertain whether or not we are on track with whatever goals we may have in life. Where we discover we have fallen short, we can then plan how to get back on track.

The general questions to ask yourself are,
1. Where am I?
2. What was my plan at the beginning of the year?
3. Am I on the right track?
4. What distracted me?
5. What encouraged me?
6. What is the way forward?

In planning the way forward, it is not enough to just think of what you plan to do or hope to achieve, WRITE IT DOWN! If you take nothing else away today, take away the idea of writing things down and make it a habit. My mother taught me something she does and it has stuck with me ever since. At the end of every year, I make a list of everything I hope to achieve the following year. At various points in a year, I can refer to that list and use it as a guide of sorts and at the end of the year, I gladly tick off most things or everything as done!

If you go through life with all your ideas and visions floating around in your head, chances are you will begin to forget them before long and eventually stray from your original plan. When writing down your goals, there are certain factors you should consider. I hear goals should be SMART - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound. They say, 'Little drops make a mighty ocean' and, 'The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step'; set little SMART goals for yourself that will collectively lead up to achieving your ultimate goal.

One last thing I would like to touch on is the issue of the company you keep. I will keep this short and relative to the topic at hand. It would be pretty pointless to take out time to set goals and plan your life, only to surround yourselves with people who do not share your vision, believe in it or support it in any way. Such people may weigh you down, derail you and sometimes even destroy your dream all together. A friend of mine once wrote, and I quote,

"Never share a dream of a 200" x 300" ambition with a person who has a mindset of just 2" x 3", they'll cut out the most relevant and important details of your dream".

I wish you all a wonderful year ahead. May your best of 2011 be your worst in 2012. The only acceptable way is the way forward.

Have a blessed week!

Robinson Crusoe

I'm back on the internet from wherever I disappeared to about a week ago!

Unfortunately, I haven't really felt like taking photos in the past week.

Here's the last bunch I took the night before I left Cardiff.

I went to the theatre to see 'Robinson Crusoe and the Caribbean pirates'.

I always enjoy the pantomimes I go to see in Cardiff. That is my favourite way to unwind or spend a quiet weekend.

I saw this skirt by chance, while searching for other items in Primark. It was on sale for £3! I immediately knew this baby was going home with me for sure.

Reptile Fierce

Hey guys!

I'm finally able to breathe for a bit before getting back to research and all the other very interesting things I do that concern uni (rrriigghhtt!).

I saw these leggings and was immediately drawn to them. They give me this reptile vibe and I feel 'fierce' in them!

In other news, the weather has left me feeling depressed as usual. I am seriously considering furthering my education on another continent. Winter and I just can't work things out. Today was pretty good though, hence the audacity to wear just a blazer.

Erm...yeah, I wore 'fierce' leggings and a spongebob watch. Don't judge me. :p
